On my last post for Atlantic Road, my full Portuguese blog, I wrote a long piece on Nina Becker’s sweet, well produced, beautiful and still dreadful and boring debut. Revealed in the chorus that accompanies Orquestra Imperial, a celebration of the big Gafieiras’ Sambas era, when people in Rio de Janeiro would dance all night long in a similar ambient to what was the Jazz clubs in US, Nina joined a team of amazing producers. The result is something related to a producers album where Nina lends her voice same way Scarlett Johansson’s worked for David Sitek pleasures.
