GS001 kicks off with a track from the very beautiful Toronto based band, Years. With an album out this summer and a full European and North American tour booked for Autumn, expect to hear a good deal more from these Canadians.
As the title of the show suggests, there is a distinctly French feel about the show this week. Having negotiated a French train strike Global Soundtracker Emily arrived at the K3 festival in Lorient just in the nick of time to see the incredible submarine base installations before heading across town to watch Depth Affect perform. It was here that the festival curator, Julie, suggested we meet a band called The Konki Duet.
So our Parisian based colleague Marjorie tracked down The Konki Duet to interview and record their live set at the Nouveau Casino. She also spent some time drinking peppermint tea with the lovely Onra. The result of all of this you can hear in the show.
A final mention has to go to the incredible Swedish discovery we made just hours before recording. Balboa have won us over with their incredibly catchy track 'I Fucking Kill You Bitch' (their only track to date), enviably stylish music video and list of part time jobs. Astrid from the band does burlesque striptease, while Jenny runs a gallery called 'Bastard' to name but two.
