As we put the finishing touches to this GS005 the skies over London exploded into thunder, lightning and produced some very large hailstones. Ouch. This week our travels took us to just down the road to meet up with Sami from Finnish label Fonal. He talked us through the artists and ideas behind the label as well as his trip to London to play as his musical alter ego Es. You can hear from Sami along with 3 other Fonal offerings throughout the show. We have also included tracks from countries never featured on Global Soundtracks before. Hebrew dancehall by USA 808 all the way from Israel (thanks to Shaun Murphy for that tip) and a titanic shoegazery dirge from Luxembourg's Fracture. We also need to point out possibly the best track name we've had on the show to date 'Inspirational Jumpsuit' by Low Limit. As always the artists who so kindly gave us their music also told us some facts about themselves too. Amongst the gems in the artist info section this week, Liz Isenberg confessed the following: "I bring my stuffed animal (a lion I've had since i was one year old) everywhere, even on tour. It's the first thing i would save out of a burning house. I have anxiety dreams about it all the time, and in these dreams I usually let my string bass and guitar burn before my little lion. It's creepy." If you would like to tell us what you would save from a burning house, vote for your favourite trackname or suggest music for us to be exploring on the show, get in touch info@globalsoundtracks.com
